stunning Four Corners region of Southwestern Colorado, USA.  Join us during
the perfect cool September weather (and October color changes) for an
extended hands-on learning programme on an actual Hybrid Adobe structure.

plastering, applications, recipes and much more!  Jeff Adams, former
director of the Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (at Humboldt State
University) will lead the Permaculture/Alternative Energy courses.

Open dates (according to your schedule): Ongoing from 15 September -- 8
October…with a break during Sept. 21--26 to enjoy hiking in stunning
Canyonlands National Park (or the wilds of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and
Colorado).   A 2-day donation project on the reservation will fit into this
programme and you are welcome to come down and meet the Navajo elders.
Please join the programme when it suits your schedule best.  We prefer a
minimum of three days (unless you are local).  Please contact us for further
details.  Costs: $75—125 per day on a sliding scale basis (tuition, food and

Vaastu Shastra

The ancient Indian science of house design

for peace, prosperity and profit.

with

Shashikirian Vaze

A well known Vastu Shastra expert from Mumbai, India is currently visiting New Zealand.   Shashikiran is usually based in Mumbai (Bombay) in India but regularly travels all over the world for consultations, seminars and workshops

Apart from India he has a growing base of clients in the USA, South Africa, Singapore, New Zealand as well as Mauritius.

The  Vedic Art of Healthy Building –

Vastushastra is the Vedic knowledge or principles for construction of structure or an establishment.

It evolved some 5000 years ago in India, much before Feng Shui.

The word "Vastu" is derived from Sankrit verb 'vas' means 'to dwell' . Vastu means the site or structure and the word "Shastra" means the Science or knowledge or principles.

In the Vedic period, people built homes, temples and hermitages with a view to have a peaceful and harmonious life.

There is a scientific reason for not sleeping with legs towards South. The human body itself acts as a magnet with the head, the heaviest, as North Pole. If the head is directed towards the North while sleeping, the North Pole of the Earth and that of the human body repel each other affecting the blood circulation, causing disturbed sleep, tension and other problems.

This one day workshop is essential  not only for anyone building or designing their home/work space, but for everyone who wants to improve their life by making a few simple adjustments to their environment.

Our final NZ hands-on building project happens 7-18 June (come when you can on your schedule). Together we will build a lovely (under 10 sq. meter) structure from start to finish. Learn how to build low-cost structures by actually creating one. Join the author of the “Hybrid Adobe Handbook”, who developed this material.

Evening seminars will offer an introduction to Hybrid Adobe designs, procedures and more, with dozens of photographs of existing projects. We will also give details about the Taupo building project and how to get involved.

Please call/text or email us for details and directions. Or check our new
website: http://hybridadobe.multiply.com --updated regularly (so keep checking in).
Details also provided upon request.
----------------

Wellspring offers this affordable programme at their newly built lodge on a beautiful 87-acre nature preserve near Turangi (with views of Lake Taupo).
Have fun getting your hands in the mud with a great group of people.

Students will also learn about other applications for Hybrid Adobe (light fibred earth) and earth building. These cozy buildings, under 10 sq. metres in size (no permits or consents required), can be used as sleep-outs, garden sheds, children’s play space, massage room, storage, art studio, meditation space, animal shelters and more.

Designer and project leader, Philip Mirkin, and the Hybrid Adobe team, will work with students to erect the structure. Students will learn the “how-to”
while creating its beauty and becoming an integral part of the team: mixing materials, sculpting, and finishing this unique project. There is no better way to learn than by actually doing it.
This programme supports our many koha projects in NZ and North America.

A one-day hands-on workshop and seminar, held 11 June near Turangi, teaches all about construction methods and materials and is open to the general public.

The building project near Lake Taupo will use natural New Zealand fibres and Hybrid Adobe: a low-cost, easy to use, energy-efficient material. This strong, non-toxic, fibred adobe can be used for dozens of applications including sleep-outs, bush stairs, housing, sculpture, garden features, courtyard walls and more. Hybrid Adobe insulates wooden and cement buildings beautifying them while making them flame resistant. It also performs well in high-wind, wet, and seismic zones.

The new edition of the Hybrid Adobe Handbook (sixth printing) can be ordered for $26 including shipping (normally $30 retail) by contacting Philip Mirkin directly, or purchase it at one of the events.

Design and consultation is also available on your project.

Please contact us in advance as there are limited places & this programme will certainly be full.

Please contact us for carpool, Train or flight information from Whangerei, Auckland, Taupo etc.
